Raids

Some monsters are too big for one traveller. Take them on alone, or bring friends.

“Big ones don't wander onto the road any more. They wait here. Bring friends, or bread.”

Garrick, Beast Tanner

Bosses

Each boss falls once a day: one Mossback, one Firebird, and so on.

  • The Mossback, Greenvale
    Greenvale · Lv. 1+

    The Mossback

Older than the village, and twice as stubborn.

Once a day: about 507 XP, 72–111 gold and six of its spoils, straight into your pack.

    Spoils

Its : always one the first time you fell the Mossback; after that, about one raid in 3.

Its legendary : about one felled raid in 15.

A boar old enough to grow moss. It is not in a hurry, and neither is the moss.

  • The Firebird, Ashen Woods
    Ashen Woods · Lv. 10+

    The Firebird

The owner of the nest. Back, and not pleased.

Everything it touches catches fire, so it touches as little as possible. The woods are ash anyway.

  • The Crystal Dragon, Crystal Caverns
    Crystal Caverns · Lv. 20+

    The Crystal Dragon

The humming was never the stone.

Once a day: about 513 XP, 72–114 gold and six of its spoils, straight into your pack.

    Spoils

Its : always one the first time you fell the Crystal Dragon; after that, about one raid in 3.

Its legendary : about one felled raid in 15.

Everyone thought the caverns hummed. It is snoring, and has been for three hundred years. It would like to continue.

  • The Keeper, The Abyss
    The Abyss · Lv. 30+

    The Keeper

    Somebody sweeps the stairs.

Once a day: about 513 XP, 72–114 gold and six of its spoils, straight into your pack.

    Spoils

Its : always one the first time you fell the Keeper; after that, about one raid in 3.

Its legendary : about one felled raid in 15.

It keeps everything that falls down here: letters, medallions, the odd traveller. In order, and labelled.

How raids work

  • Fight alone takes you straight in. Gather a team opens a lobby for friends who are playing right now.
  • Every raid is its own beast, sized for whoever turns up.
  • In a team you take turns. It hits back whoever just hit it.
  • Miss your turn and you're skipped until you tap I'm back. If everyone's skipped for 2 minutes, it leaves, and nobody gets anything.
  • Knocked out, you're out of this one: see the Healer, then it's a new fight.
  • Felled, everyone who landed a hit gets all of it, however many turned up. Not felled, nobody gets anything. What you ate stays eaten.
  • You can fell each boss once a day. Each pays XP, gold and six of its spoils, straight into your pack. Lose or flee, and you can try that boss again the same day. The day starts at midnight UTC.
  • Leave a team fight after landing a hit, whether you step out or get knocked out, and you wait for them: if they fell it, that boss is done for you today too.
